Square Home v4.1: Realistic Liquid Glass & Enhanced Customization

Hi everyone,

I’m excited to announce the release of Square Home v4.1! In this update, I’ve focused on bringing next-level visual effects, practical utility widgets, and expanded customization options for the latest Android versions.

Here is a detailed look at what’s new in v4.1:

1. "Liquid Glass" Tile Background Effect

The headline feature of v4.1 is the new "Liquid Glass" tile background effect. Unlike static overlays, this dynamic effect realistically responds in real-time to "user touch interactions, tile movements, and physical device movement (tilting)", giving your tiles a fluid, realistic glass refraction with subtle depth.

How to apply the Liquid Glass effect:

step 1. Go to Home options > Tile size and style.

step 2. Enable Glass edge.

step 3. Enable Liquid glass.

step 4. Adjust Glass edge thickness (optional).

2. New Built-in Widget: Bluetooth Battery Circle

To make tracking your wireless devices effortless, I’ve added a new built-in "Bluetooth Battery Circle" widget. When multiple Bluetooth devices are connected, the widget automatically cycles through each device's battery level at a fixed interval, providing a clean, space-saving way to monitor all your connected devices from a single tile.

3. Folder Lock Option

Privacy and peace of mind are essential. In v4.1, you can now secure specific folders directly through the folder options using the new "Folder Lock" feature. Keep sensitive apps or personal shortcuts protected with an extra layer of security.

4. System Bar Color Options for Android 15+

For users running Android 15 and above, I’ve added deeper control over system bar aesthetics under "Behavior and UI" options:

- Status bar color

- Navigation bar color

- Adaptive system bar colors

The "Adaptive system bar colors" option automatically changes the status bar and navigation bar icon colors to either Dark or Light depending on the background brightness underneath them.

> Note: If you are using the system wallpaper, the OS may restrict direct access to the wallpaper image data, which can occasionally lead to inaccurate color adaptation.

If you want to try out new features and updates before everyone else, consider joining the Open Beta Test program on the Google Play Store! Your feedback during beta testing helps immensely in polishing new features for the final release.

Thank you as always for your continued support and feedback. Give v4.1 a try, and let me know your thoughts!

Understanding Tile Background Effects

This post explains how the wallpaper works with the tile background effects. The "System wallpaper" is a normal Android wallpaper system and you can see that in your lock screen or in even another launcher after selecting it. The "App wallpaper" is applied only inside of Square home app but you can use some beautiful tile background effects on it. Square Home currently supports a total of five tile background effects. Go to Home options > Tile sizes and styles > Background effect and select one of the following effects. 1. No effect This is the default value when you first install the launcher. You can disable the wallpaper or use System wallpaper or App wallpaper to use this effect. If you disable the wallpaper, it uses a black background color, which you can change in Home options > Behavior and UI > Background color. It looks a bit boring at first, but you can use different tile colors and rounded corners to create a nice screen like this. Background ...

Live Tiles

Live tile  is one of the most attractive features of Windows phone. It displays continuously useful information on tiles in real time with charming animations. There are several ways to make tiles "Live" on Square home as well. I'm sure you could make your home awesome by applying the following ways. 1. Displaying notifications on tile When you get a notification from an app, you should expand the notification panel from the status bar to see the content. Now you do not have to pull down the status bar anymore because Square home displays the notification on the app tile that is added into your page. Notifications on tile To activate this feature,  - go to "Live tile" in Home options.  - select "Notifications".  - enable Square home in the notification access. The app icon and notification text are switched continuously on the tile with some cool animation. If the notification contains a picture in its content, it will be displayed as ...
